This fast-paced city life leaves barely any time for us to relax and rejuvenate. Thus, making us seek long vacations. But, today spas have taken over the role of providing 100% TLC, thus fulfilling the need for a short much-needed break. This is exactly what I experienced at Antara Spa located in The Club, Juhu.
A picturesque setting and positive energy sets the mood at Antara Spa. Today, it has become a popular rejuvenation destination and is not restricted to just the members of the club. Nestled in 8.2 acres of greenery, swimming pools and open sky, Antara Spa makes for a serene retreat, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of
the city, despite being located in the centre of it.
Design, Décor and Facilities
The entrance to Antara faces the poolside and the sounds and presence of pristine water relaxes you as you enter. As soon as I stepped into the spa, I was impressed by the hospitality and the interiors, which are urban and contemporary. The reception is striking with the mother of pearl inlay on a calming beige background with inlay of spotless white marble signifying a connect between the treasures of the sea and the purifying effects of water.
The spa includes 5 treatment rooms and 1 couple suite equipped with attached steam and shower cubicles. While the simplicity of design is the overriding theme, therapy rooms are given a unique character by the use of textured fabrics and exquisite silk that stand out and yet are subliminal. The five elements of space, air, earth, water and fire are prominent in the spa decor, with features such as bowls full of floating flowers, aromatherapy burners in all rooms and earthy tones. The entire spa has been carefully lit with warm lighting with accents of handpicked artifacts.
Staff and Service
Upon entering the spa, I was given a warm welcome and was offered peach and apricot juice, which was refreshing, while the soothing music calmed my senses. The therapists at Antara are trained and certified by reputed brands like Rémy Laure, Skeyndor, Christine Valmy and Phytomer. They hold vast experience in different massages and facial techniques. Training is done every 6 months in-house about new therapies and techniques as per body anatomy. Their training basically includes different body therapies, basic anatomy and reflex therapy.
Antara Spa has an extensive menu with a wide range of massages, body polishes, facials, body wraps, baths and the recent addition, cupping therapy. These treatments are designed to serve a variety of purposes such as rejuvenation, detoxification, balancing & healing. After discussing the menu, I was introduced to my masseuse Shang and we proceeded to the massage room.
Experience
I was recommended the very refreshing Antara Signature Massage, which is one of the most popular treatments at Antara. It begins with Yoga stretches, which is a part of Thai massage, and is a combination of Thai massage, Aromatic massage and Swedish massage. The treatment began with a 5-minute foot ritual which is the first step of the treatment. I was asked to soak my feet in a brass bowl with luke warm water, bath salts and rose petals. My therapist then scrubbed my feet, applying pressure onto pressure points, which marked the first step towards the beautiful journey I was just about to begin. Following this, while I was on the massage table, my limbs, hands and back were stretched and kneaded. My therapist Shang, then gave me a thorough body massage using aromatic oils. I felt as light as a feather and enjoyed the back massage the most. I felt like all the sore spots on my back were healing.
Antara completed 10 years in December 2016 and so did my therapist, Shang Horam who has been working at Antara for 10 years. She was awarded the best therapist at Asia Spa Geo-Spa 2012–13. Her experience as a therapist was obvious since she knew what she was doing and constantly asked me if I was comfortable with the pressure she applied during the massage. I was so relaxed and comfortable when she started working with Swedish strokes, which was gradually followed by 5–10 minutes of head massage. By the end of the massage, I almost fell asleep. I was in peaceful zone. I was now given a shower cap and was guided towards the steam and shower cubicle. It was blissful – the entire experience!
Once ready to step out of the massage room, I was escorted to the lobby by the therapist and offered green tea. I was given a feedback form to fill in by the warm spa receptionist which I gladly filled. This treatment not only left me rejuvenated but my skin glowed and felt moisturized. I shall definitely visit again. If you wish for a holistic experience, Antara Spa is the place to go to! SS
