Water properties are essential to spas

Water is a great healer. That’s why there are so many ways to use water in a spa, and different ways to use its healing properties. Flowing water also increases positivity in a space. Like warm water is calming, so is bubbling and cold water. They have been known to heal injured muscles through the ages. Hydrotherapy is an integral treatment aspect at a spa, the word SPA being an acronym for ‘Sanus Per Aquam’ (health through water). In its many forms, hydrotherapy is administered in different tubs. Great to use before or after a sauna session, exercise, or even just to relax, tubs used for hydrotherapy come in many forms, sizes, uses and brands. Here are some and what they’re used for.

Hot Tub

A necessity at a spa, hot tubs, as the name suggests, provide warm water hydrotherapy. With jets that control water flow, the movement of the water massages while you sit and enjoy a relaxing hot water massage. You have a choice of everything from a 4-seater to an 8-seater or more. For a couple’s treatment, the Jacuzzi Cetra 532 RH whirlpool – CTS6032, a 6 foot tub, is a good idea. The 61″ 2-person indoor whirlpool tub is also a great idea.It comes with a corner waterfall. Jacuzzi hot tubs of course are the most popular.

For a group of people the Bjorn S01T Hot Tub is an option. It is suited for both, an indoor and an outdoor setting. It has rotating jets and you can also order it in a colour of your choice.

Kneipp Pools

Named after Sebastian Kneipp, Kneipp Pools alternate between cold and warm water to heal muscles and tired feet. These pools are usually wading pools that require you to walk through them, so they’re constructed in elongated shapes like rectangles and ovals. The alternating cold and warm water soak improves blood circulation. The depth is only ankle-high. There are also pool spaces for the forearms with the same concept and treatment. These wading pools need a fair amount of space so that people can walk, or rather wade, through them. The floors of these pools gradually become deep and shallow. These pools are usually very shallow to begin with so the deep ends aren’t deeper than a few inches more.

While hot tubs are portable and can be installed, Kneipp pools usually need to be constructed.

Cold Tubs

Cryotherapy is a treatment method that is used for athletes to manage pain as well as treat injuries. The company Cold Tubs, (mainly is the United States of America), manufactures various kinds of pools to administer cryotherapy. The Polar Pools variety is their best bet. These pools are great for athletes of any age, during training or otherwise, to treat their injuries, minimize lactic acid build-up and reduce swelling and pain. The pools are designed to maintain a certain temperature – anywhere between 4.5 C to 40 C. Although you could create an ice bath in a regular tub, maintaining temperature is a problem. That’s why tubs manufactured for this purpose is a good idea. Since Cryotherapy is a regular practice, it’s a great investment for athletes and physically active people of all kinds.

Whirlpool bathtubs

Whirlpool bathtubs are probably the most relaxing of bathtubs. Hydrotherapy in whirlpools will administer a water massage that stimulates blood circulation, tones muscles and relaxes tired muscles. This is a good form of physiotherapy after exercise and also for injuries. Mirabelle has some very nice designs. If you want a corner tub, the Mirabelle ‘St. Augustine’ is a great option. 60 inches of relaxation-making goodness, the whirlpool tub is available is different colours; although white is the most popular. It measures 60″ x 60″ x 24″.The Mirabelle ‘Provincetown’ is a rectangular piece that is also a great spa installation that measures 60″ x 32″ x 21-1/2″.
